Write for us

Local Current Review welcomes pitches that help readers understand how places are named, mapped, bounded, recognised and connected. We are interested in well-framed ideas, not finished articles sent without agreement.

What to pitch

Propose a focused, evergreen subject in place literacy: perhaps a useful comparison of map types, an explanation of how a kind of boundary works, or an account of what place names can and cannot reveal. A good pitch identifies the reader's question, the central idea and why it suits our coverage.

Make the case

Include a working title, a concise summary, the main points you would explore and the kinds of sources the piece would rely on. Flag any uncertainty or specialist context the idea needs. Avoid pitches that depend on unsupported claims, unverified local lore or advice requiring an official or professional decision.

Send a proposal

Send pitches through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please do not include confidential material or assume a proposal has been accepted until we respond.
